Delaware police file drug and traffic charges
Two Dover women were arrested early Sunday on traffic and drug charges following a car chase by Delaware State Police.
A Delaware state police trooper stopped Tammy Farlow, 37, of Voshells Mill Road, for a traffic violation on New Burton Road at 3:45 a.m. State police spokesman Cpl. Jeff Oldham said a computer check revealed that Farlow was wanted for failing to appear at an arraignment in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas in August.
When the Delaware trooper made Farlow exit the car, Farlow told the trooper that she had to give some paperwork to her passenger and headed back to her car, Delaware police said. The trooper told Farlow to stop, but Farlow jumped into the car and started it up.
Delaware police said the trooper reached inside the car to get the keys out of the ignition, but Farlow tried to speed away, dragging the trooper for a few yards before the trooper let go. The trooper then got into his car and began pursuing Farlow.
Farlow jumped out of her car at Gunning Bedford Drive and tried to climb the fence of a private residence, but was apprehended by Delaware state police. Oldham said police searched Farlow and her passenger, Marquita Williams, 43, and found crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia. Police also found marijuana on the floor of the car.
Farlow was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, conspiracy, drug possession, driving under the influence and other traffic offenses. Williams was charged with drug possession, resisting arrest and conspiracy.
Farlow and Williams were sent to the Women's Correctional Institution in lieu of $25,050 and $14,000 bail, respectively.
